Portable Humidifier Fan

The Portable Air Cooler Fan from The Variety Vault combines a desk fan, evaporative mist cooler, and personal humidifier into a single USB-powered unit compact enough to sit on a desk, bedside table, or office surface without occupying more space than a standard water bottle.

What Evaporative Cooling Actually Does

A standard fan moves existing air around the room. An evaporative cooler draws air through a water-dampened system and releases it as a fine cool mist, lowering the perceived temperature around the immediate area by several degrees. The cooling effect is most noticeable within a one to two metre radius of the unit, making this a personal cooler rather than a room cooler. In a centrally heated office, a dry bedroom in summer, or a small workspace without air conditioning, the difference in comfort is immediate and measurable.

Three Speed Settings

Low speed provides a gentle airflow suitable for sleeping, reading, or quiet office work where fan noise is a concern. Medium speed increases both airflow and mist output for warmer conditions. High speed delivers maximum cooling and is appropriate for when ambient temperature is noticeably uncomfortable. The speed setting also controls mist intensity, higher speed produces a more visible mist output.

200ml Water Tank

The 200ml tank provides continuous misting for approximately 2 to 3 hours on a single fill depending on speed setting. Refilling takes under a minute. Tap water functions without issue, though filtered or distilled water extends the time between descaling maintenance. The tank is visible from the outside so water level can be checked at a glance without picking the unit up.

USB Power: Works with Any USB Source

The unit runs from any USB power source including laptop ports, desktop USB hubs, phone chargers, and power banks. No dedicated plug is required. At 5V operation, power consumption is low enough that running from a laptop USB port does not measurably affect battery life. A power bank allows cordless use on a desk, in a tent, or at an outdoor table without access to a socket.

Mist Mode, Fan Mode, or Both

The fan and mist functions operate independently. Fan-only mode works as a standard desk fan without moisture output, appropriate when humidity in the room is already adequate. Mist-only mode adds humidity to the air without additional airflow, useful in dry centrally heated rooms in winter. Combined mode delivers both functions simultaneously for maximum cooling effect in warm, dry conditions.

Quiet Operation

At low speed, operating noise stays below 40dB, comparable to a quiet library or soft background conversation. High speed produces more audible airflow but remains within comfortable range for shared office or bedroom use.
